AN EMOTIONAL DREAM

Our prediction for tonight's Oscars 2018?

The Shape of Water! Already nominated for no less than 15 awards...

If you love the French movie "Amelie" which I totally do - you just might adore "The Shape of Water". Directed by Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Hobbit and Crimson Peak) starring the brilliant Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins (who is utterly brilliant), and the wondrous Octavia Spencer, it's a quirky, charming, heartfelt, curiosity of a love story, set in Baltimore in 1962, between a cleaner who connects through sign language and emotion with a captured amphibian creature at a high-security government laboratory.

Be open-minded, avoid some of the slightly dismissive reviews, and appreciate the touching script that beautifully highlights issues of self-worth, and what is 'human'. For all its fantasy, this is a sweetly genuine story of empathy. Loved it!
