RANDOM LIFE
The very last house we viewed was a lovely old ‘rundown’ cottage-come-manor called Random Thatch. It was just outside Bruton in Somerset (where our kids went to school for a while - so we knew & loved the town).
To Buy or NOT to Buy…
Of course, we began to obsess. Me first, then my husband, then me, then him; back and forth we went. It really was very cute - but in need of so much work.
PLUS, it was going up for auction - online! Well, we weren’t going to put ourselves through THAT ‘showroom stress’. So we put in an offer, and another, and another, got gazumped, then it came back to us … we grabbed it, and hey presto….still midst Covid Summer, she became ours: Random Thatch - a house with multiple thatched hoods, peaks and curiosities.
We moved in.
I say “moved in”… really we bought a few a blow-up camp beds - very good ones I must admit by Livivio on Amazon (who kept me sane during lockdown) - which is just as well as we were still renting our ‘other’ house 9 months later.
Added to that, it had complications… the water had been drained, the electricity cut, only the alarm worked…constantly (funny that). But the sun shone, and everyone locally we rang, for advice, numbers, and help … were amazing! So here we are… here’s our journal…
The beauty of Random Thatch is that our candle fragrances have ‘come home’. They are created down the road in Wells, Somerset. JOGB is HOME!
So Random Life has begun.
Here, in our new green space, I’ll share all things green and happy and soulful with you, because this part of the UK - Somerset - has the most unique energy about it, that’s mystical, beautiful, magical and deeply inspiring.
Do come visit often, share and ask questions along the way … it’s like a Bohemian renovation of a house and a soul - all in one… quite exciting really.
